THE BENEFITS
When Christine Favager asked me to try colonics I felt apprehensive. I had read about the health benefits and feeling of well being after colonic hydrotherapy and had been tempted to give it a try, however, I somehow never got round to it.
Knowing that Christine is a true professional with a wealth of experience currently in her 15th year of doing colonics, and the longest serving therapist in the North West, I decided it was time to pluck up the courage and let her do what she does best and visited her practice in Atherton, near Bolton (she has another in Banks, Southport).
Christine, a member of ARCH, (the Association and Register of Colonic Hydro Therapists), advises two treatments each one about seven to ten days apart. Unlike some other forms of colonic hydrotherapy where the procedure is done using a machine Christine does it herself using massage. Specially filtered warm water and herbs and coffee. She stays with you throughout he treatment and has a gentle. caring way of looking after you, talking you through each stage of the procedure.
The session took about an hour, and I afterwards I felt very relaxed and comfortable. Mentioned my surprise to find there was hardly any waste produced and Christine explained this is common on the first visit as this is when the large intestine is worked on to loosen any waste that has been in there for anywhere up to ten years.
The second visit is when the colon is completely cleansed as I found out later.
After my first visit I felt that my stomach had shrunk, the bloatedness I often suffer from had gone and I felt great. After the second time l felt superb! I certainly felt he benefits and won't think twice about going for further sessions. Colonics is said to help migraines, stress, anxiety, depression, lethargy, irritable bowel, stomach upsets, candidiasis and various skin problems like acne and psoriases.
