FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONSIs it like an Enema? Not at all. With an enema, fluid and chemicals are placed in the rectum and held there for as long as possible. Eventually the inevitable urges win over, and the bowels are evacuated. You quite literally have to go. This often causes discomfort, cramps and even pain. Colonic Hydrotherapy however, is a very gentle procedure. The bowel is cleansed by continuously flowing water. There is therefore nothing held in the bowel and the urge to go is not present. Does it hurt? This is generally a pain free procedure, however, some people my feel a little discomfort at first, particularly if they have suffered with constipation. How long does it take to work?Although there are immediate effects, several treatments are recommended. Usually a minimum of two treatments, but a course of 5-10 treatments may be recommended. Your therapist will discuss and recomend the appropriate regime for your particular needs. Are there any after effects? Most people feel quite good after a colonic. Others, particularly if they suffer with Candidiasis, bowel dysbiosis or any form of toxic colon, can experience a temporary "detoxification" phase. They may then feel unwell, flushed and hot or a little light headed. These symptoms are only temporary, and due to the Toxins being released from the body. Does it do any harm? When carried out by qualified experienced therapists, very little harm can be done. Care has to be taken if there is any bowel disease, such as diverticular disease or inflammatory bowel disease. |
